Five friends, one studio

We build small apps for everyday habits

We're five longtime friends who turned years of "we should make an app for that" into something real. NewLeaf is the first thing off the workbench.

About FiveStack

FiveStack is a technology company founded by five longtime friends in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, who finally decided to turn years of "we should make an app for that" conversations into something real.

We're a team of nerds, gamers, and problem-solvers with backgrounds ranging from software engineering and computer science to statistics and personal finance. Our name is a nod to where we come from: in gaming, a five-stack is a team of five players. Add in the computing meaning of a "stack," and it felt like the perfect fit.

We build apps and tools from scratch to solve problems we experience ourselves, or to create things we wish existed. We're users too, and we've experienced the frustration of apps that are bloated with unnecessary features, locked behind endless paywalls, or somehow still don't do the thing you actually need them to do.

That's what we're trying to do differently.

Each of us brings our own interests and ideas to the table, so FiveStack isn't built around a single type of product. Instead, our apps share a common philosophy: keep things simple, make them genuinely useful, and use thoughtful design, statistics, and a little bit of gamification to make them better.

Most importantly, we want to build things we'd actually want to use ourselves.

If we wouldn't use it, why would we expect you to?
